Working in Clover
Clover began as a railway stop in 1876 and was incorporated in 1887. The 2020 census counted 6,671 people, up 31 percent from 2010, and the town limits are only part of it: the Lake Wylie side of the Clover area has filled in with new subdivisions and lake houses, so the work runs from century-old houses in town to brand-new builds by the water.
The Town of Clover runs its own building permit and inspection program through its Development Services department, under the 2020 National Electrical Code with South Carolina modifications. The town says plainly that a residential builder's license alone is not enough to do electrical work, and that the penalty for building without a permit is double the permit fee. Outside the town limits, including most of Lake Wylie, York County Building and Codes covers it. We pull the permit under our license, M110118, with the right office and meet the inspector.
Duke Energy provides power in York County, and York Electric Cooperative serves much of the area around Clover and Lake Wylie. A service upgrade, a new meter base or an outbuilding feed needs the utility involved, so tell us who sends your bill and we coordinate it.
Lake houses have their own list: outdoor outlets with GFCI protection, lighting for decks and paths, hot tub and pool wiring, a standby generator, and an EV charger in the garage. We do all of it to code and pull the permit where one is needed.
